Joining Files Splitting Files Options Command line

Joining Files

Use the open button (or File->Open) and select all of the files you wish to join (They must all be in the same folder.), and press OK.

Use the arrow buttons to move files in to the correct order, Press Join (or File->Join). Select a name for you new file, press OK.

Splitting Files

Open the spliter file (*.spl) for the file you wish to split (this must be in the same folder as the Mpeg file.), this can take awhile as the mpeg file is checked to make sure it is the correct one.

The files that can be extracted from the large file will be listed in the list box. You can now ether extract all of the files to a folder of your choice using the Extract All button, or extract individual selected files (Allowing you to chose the file name.) by using the Extract button.

All extracted files are checked to make sure that they are an exact copy of the original file.

Options

Command line

Minky's Mpegjoin can open files specified from the command line at start up. For instance

mpegjoin "c:\videos\music\Madonna papa don't preach.mpg" "c:\videos\music\Madonna live to tell.mpg"

will open these two files ready for joining.

Spliter (*.spl) files can also be opened in this way, however a spliter file must be the first file listed, if it appears later in the list it will be ignored. When a spliter file is opened any other files from the command line are ignored.

Files that do not have mpg, mpeg or spl extensions will be ignored.

Q. What use is this?

A. Well it allows you to associate *.spl files with Mpegjoin if you wish to do so. Perhaps more useful is the ability to use "Send To"* to open files in Mpegjoin from Explorer. To do this you need to place a shortcut to Mpegjoin in your "Send To" folder

* Send To is part of Microsoft Powertoys for windows.
